Destiny Wells (D), a secretary of state hopeful, secures the endorsement of Major General (Ret.) R. Martin Umbarger, who retired after 46 years in the Indiana National Guard after having served as Adjutant General of Indiana, appointed by three different governors, one Democrat and two Republicans. The endorsement is significant, because Gen. Umbarger led the Indiana National Guard during the tenure of Wells’ GOP opponent, Diego Morales (R), and when Wells served with the Army National Guard and in the Army Reserve (and also when Wells’ husband served in the Indiana Army National Guard) . . . Wells ratchets up the rotation of her negative television spot questioning the fitness of Morales for office.
