Jim Banks (R) has a palatable path forward should he not win the House Republican whip post in the next session, reports Punchbowl News: “[I]f Banks doesn’t become majority whip, he has a few fallback options. Banks would be a strong candidate for the Education and Labor Committee gavel” or to lead a select committee on China. Rep. Banks is a member of the education panel, and, as long-time readers of your favorite education newsletter may recall, as a state senator a decade ago, he led the legislative charge regulating superintendent salary packages.
