After a lengthy run as chair, don’t be surprised if Sen. Dennis Kruse (R) of Auburn hands over the gavel to the Senate Committee on Education and Career Development (but stays on the committee).

Most likely to become the new chair: current ranking member Sen. Jeff Raatz (R) of Centerville, who is up for re-election to his second term this week.

Sen. Raatz has served as principal of the Richmond Christian Academy (a private Christian school that closed in 2017 due to a decline in enrollment after 14 years of operation) and is a member of the advisory board of Indiana University East and the IU East business graduate program.
